Barcelona Win 2015 Club World Cup

Barcelona beat River Plate 3-0 on Sunday to win the Club World Cup in Yokohama, Japan. Goals from Leo Messi and a brace from Luis Suarez were enough to see off a brave but limited River Plate side in front of 66,853 supporters at Yokohama International Stadium, the venue for the 2002 World Cup final.

Despite constant and noisy support from an estimated 10,000 traveling plans this year's Libertadores winners River Plate from Argentina were never really in the match until a late spell of pressure after the game was all but over.

Messi took his place in the Barcelona lineup after recovering from a kidney complaint which caused him to miss the semi-final win over China's Evergrande and the Argentine opened the scoring in the 36th minute. Luis Suarez's goal in the 49th minute was the goal of the game after a superb ball over the top by Busquets. Suarez completed the scoring after a cross from Neymar in the 68th minute.

Sanfrecce Hiroshima beat ACL Champions Guangzhou Evergrande 2-1 in the warm up game to secure third place in the competition.
